View our cabins and locations.

How do I check availability and pricing?

The easiest way is to use our live booking calendar. Rates vary by cabin, season, day of the week, and availability.

Check current dates and rates.

Is there a minimum number of nights?

Minimum stays vary by season, demand, and specific dates. If you need a one-night stay and the calendar won’t allow it, reach out and we can check whether an exception is possible.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 4 PM and check-out is at 10 AM.

A 2-hour early check-in or 2-hour late check-out may be available for $20 each. View add-ons.

How late can I check in?

It’s self check-in, so you can arrive using the door code provided for your stay. No key pickup or front desk stop is needed.

How does the door code work?

Our cabins use secure keyless entry. Each reservation gets a door code for the stay, so arrival is simple and flexible.

For security, we do not post door-code details publicly. Your check-in instructions will be sent with your reservation details.

How far in advance should I book?

If you need specific dates, especially holidays, peak summer weekends, or school breaks, book as early as possible. Those dates can sell out.

If you’re flexible on dates or cabin choice, you may still find availability closer to your stay.

Do you charge a cleaning fee?

We do not add a standard cleaning fee. Normal use is expected and fine.

If a cabin is left significantly messier than normal use, such as pet messes, excessive dirt, trash everywhere, or damage, additional cleaning or repair charges may apply under our house rules.

How close are the cabins to the water?

The cabins are very close to the Lake Huron shoreline, but exact water distance can change with Saginaw Bay water levels, season, and the specific cabin.

The natural shoreline is great for lake views, wildlife, fishing, kayaking, and sunrises. For easy sandy swimming, Granny’s Cabin and nearby public beach areas are the best fit.

Can I dock a boat at the cabin shoreline?

No private dock is advertised at the cabins, and boat docking at the cabin shoreline is not guaranteed.

Guests bringing boats should use the nearby Au Gres Public Boat Launch. Shoreline access at the cabins is natural and changes with lake levels, so it is best for fishing, kayaking, lake views, and shoreline time rather than guaranteed motorized boat docking.

Can I park a boat or boat trailer at the cabin?

Depending on the cabin and the size of your boat or trailer, parking at the cabin may be possible.

Please contact us before arrival with your boat and trailer size so we can confirm the best parking plan for your setup.

Where can I launch a boat for Saginaw Bay?

The main launch for Saginaw Bay is the Michigan DNR Au Gres River Mouth Boat Launch, also known as the DNR launch.

It has multiple ramps, docks, trailer parking, restrooms, and access through the Au Gres River channel into Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron. A Michigan Recreation Passport or day-use pass may be required.

See boat launch and fish-cleaning details.

Do you have kayak rentals?

Things To Do

Fishing, birdwatching, northern lights, golf, kayaking, tubing, seasons, and outdoor tips.

What is the best time of year to visit?
  • Spring: bird migration, fewer crowds, cool mornings.
  • Summer: beach days, boating, kayaking, fishing, and campfires.
  • Fall: cooler air, fall color, fishing, and quieter towns.
  • Winter: cozy cabin stays, snow, and ice fishing when conditions are safe.
Are you open all year?

Yes. We are open year-round.

Where is a good place to go birdwatching or see wildlife?

The Au Gres and Saginaw Bay area is excellent for birdwatching. Nearby hotspots include Wigwam Bay, the Au Gres River mouth, Pressprich Nature Preserve, the Au Gres Delta, and Tawas Point.

Read our birdwatching guide.

What bird species can I see in the area?

The area may include waterfowl, gulls, terns, raptors, cranes, herons, eagles, and seasonal migrating songbirds.

Nearby marshes, river mouths, wetlands, and shoreline preserves are the best places to look. We do not claim every species can be seen from every cabin.

Can you see the northern lights?

Sometimes. Northern Lights are never guaranteed, but the area has low light pollution along Saginaw Bay, which can help during strong solar events.

Fall and winter often offer better odds because nights are longer. A favorite local viewing area is near the DNR Au Gres River Mouth boat launch when conditions are right.

Is ice fishing possible in winter?

Saginaw Bay and nearby waters are popular for ice fishing when conditions allow.

Ice conditions vary every year. Always follow Michigan DNR guidance, check with local bait shops, use proper safety gear, and never assume the ice is safe. We cannot guarantee ice conditions or safety.

When is peak fishing season for Saginaw Bay?

Walleye fishing is popular from April through September, with spring and summer being strong times. August is often a favorite for perch.

See our Saginaw Bay fishing guide.

How much do local fishing charters cost?

Charter prices vary by captain, boat size, trip length, and group size. A helpful planning range is about $250 to $575 total, depending on the trip.

Always confirm current pricing, launch location, start time, and fish-cleaning options directly with the captain.

Which golf courses are closest?

Nearby golf options include Knoll View Golf Course, Huron Breeze Golf Club, and Singing Bridge Golf Course, along with other regional courses near Tawas and Standish.

See our golf guide.

What is the difference between the Au Sable and Rifle Rivers?

The Au Sable is wide, deep, and slower-moving, making it good for a peaceful scenic float.

The Rifle River is shallower and faster-moving, with a more active tubing atmosphere.

Explore our paddling and tubing guide.

What are the rules for local river trips?

Many local liveries have strict no-glass and no-Styrofoam rules to help protect the rivers. Check with the livery before your trip and plan accordingly.

What should I expect from wildlife and bugs?

We are in a rural lakefront environment. You may see deer, birds, small critters, and bugs, especially during warm months.

Keep doors and screens closed to avoid letting insects inside. Mayfly season usually lasts about two weeks each year. They are harmless but can be numerous around lights at night.
